Bakers Dream Cheeseburger-Stuffed Bread Bombs

These Cheeseburger-Stuffed Bread Bombs are perfect for weekend lunches, movie nights or feeding a hungry family especially when there’s a bowl of your favourite dipping sauce involved.

Ingredients:

For the dough:

  • 3 cups Baker's Dream Cake Wheat Flour

  • 2 tsp instant yeast

  • 1 Tbsp sugar

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 2 Tbsp vegetable oil

  • 1 cup warm water

For the filling:

  • 400g mince

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 1 Tbsp tomato sauce

  • 1 tsp mustard

  • Salt and pepper

  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, cut into small cubes

For the top:

  • 1 egg, beaten

  • Sesame seeds, optional

Method:

  1. Combine Baker's Dream Cake Wheat Flour, yeast, sugar and salt.

  2. Add the oil and warm water and mix to form a soft dough.

  3. Knead for 8 - 10 minutes until smooth.

  4. Cover and leave in a warm place until doubled in size, approximately 1 hour.

  5. Meanwhile, fry the onion and mince until cooked through.

  6. Stir in the tomato sauce and mustard, season and allow the filling to cool.

  7. Divide the risen dough into approximately 10 pieces.

  8. Flatten each piece into a circle.

  9. Place a spoonful of mince and a cube of cheese in the centre.

  10. Bring the edges together and pinch firmly to seal.

  11. Place seam-side down on a lined baking tray.

  12. Cover and leave for another 20 minutes.

  13. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

  14. Bake at 190°C for 18 - 22 minutes, until golden brown.

  15. Break one open when it is warm for that melted-cheese reveal.
