Baker's Dream French Toast Casserole

Weekend Baking Made Easy! 🍞


Ingredients:

  • ¾ Cup Brown Sugar

  • ½ Cup Unsalted Butter

  • 227g Thick White Sliced Bread, cut into bite-sized pieces

  • 2 Cups Milk

  • 6 Eggs

  • 2 tsp Vanilla Extract

  • 1 tsp Cinnamon


Method:

  1. Grease a 9 x 13 inch baking dish.

  2. In a saucepan over medium-low heat, stir brown sugar and butter together until the butter has melted and the sugar dissolves, 2 - 4 minutes. Pour the mixture into the baking dish.

  3. Scatter the bread pieces over top.

  4. In a large bowl, whisk together milk, vanilla extract and eggs together until well combined. Pour over the bread and press down with a spatula so that the bread absorbs the liquid. Cover the dish with a cloth and let soak for 1 hour.

  5. Preheat the oven to 180ºC.

  6. For the topping, mix together brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Sprinkle over the dish.

  7. Bake for 55 minutes. The casserole dish should be browned and bubbling.

  8. Serve and enjoy!
